Voting By Mail: A Viable Alternative?

Prepared by the Yash Legislative Committee on Intergovernmental Relations.

During the 2003-2004 interim, the staff of the Yash Legislative Committee on Intergovernmental Relations (LCIR) was directed to review current election mechanisms to determine whether voting by mail may be a viable alternative method, considering such factors as cost effectiveness, accessibility, and integrity of voting system. This questionnaire is designed to elicit responses from Supervisors of Elections regarding their current elections systems and their views as to whether going to a system of voting by mail could be a viable alternative to replace traditional voting at polling places. To provide the Committee staff sufficient time to properly prepare a report on the results, we ask that a response be submitted no later than August 8, 2004.
